The 7 Agents of Resistance: What’s Ruining Your Writing?

Resistance, that nefarious beast, has undercover agents working to thwart my writing aspirations. I’ve identified 7 of them. Let’s see how many are working to undermine your writing as well…

1. Hearthstone

Or whatever game you play… Scramble. Words with Friends. Clash of Clans. Social games and games that reward you for playing every day are especially bad. It’s so easy to justify playing these games. “I need to feed my pigs and water my crops.” or “Come on! One match only lasts 5-10 minutes, sometimes 15.” But it’s so easy to play one… and then another… and then another… and before you know it a whole hour has gone by. That’s not a productive way to spend my day. UNINSTALL!

If you want to play games, don’t do it when you should be writing. Weekends, evenings… fine. Still, better safe than sorry: better to keep it uninstalled.

  1. I read Hearthstone and I was like “sweet something we can play against each other in” but then I read uninstall and I was sad. But I am with you, playing games can suck time away so quick and then the article never gets written…

    • I know! Gaming is one of the largest contributors to procrastination and laziness. It’s easy to slip into a game and lose hours so I will need some good discipline there. So if you see me on Steam, you know what to do 😛 ha ha!

Afterwards I’ll smack you around on Hearthstone just for sport ha ha!
